Sixteen participants learned leadership skills in a recent LiveWIRE Leadership Camp in Temburong last weekend.
The participants comprised entrepreneurs, Institute Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) students and participants of the Brunei Shell Petroleum’s Energy Business Academy (EBA).
Held at Trandie Marina Resort, the three-day programme was aimed to inculcate and explore leadership values within the participants. They were also assessed on their qualities by the supervisors during a self-assessment session.
Participants were also exposed to the natural elements and explored the characteristics that make a leader.
Pg Redzuan Pg Hj Abbas, LiveWIRE Brunei Programme Director and Lead Facilitator for the Leadership Camp programme, said that training is based on the concept of “transforming” a person rather than “changing” them.
He also hopes to create a “Community of Practice” approach and emphasise on the concept of unity amongst the participants.
Nur Aziilah binti Md Sofri, a student from IBTE, recommends the Leadership Camp programme as a tool for understanding people and oneself.
“It allows us to frame our perspectives in life based on time management and values,” she added.
Edna Ghani, another participant from the camp said, “During the programme I’ve learnt that there is always room for improvement and that being grateful is the key learning experience for me from the camp.”
LiveWIRE Brunei has been providing entrepreneurship mentoring programmes for young Bruneians since 2001.
