Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) recently held a forum to discuss on financial technology (fintech) developments at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) headquarters.

AMBD’s Assistant Executive Director Mohd Khairul Zaki Haji Mohidin opened the forum by highlighting the outcome of Brunei’s Fintech Ecosystem Assessment project with KPMG Singapore to the industry.

The project included several industry players from relevant agencies including the government, financial institutions, telecommunication companies.

Head of KPMG in Singapore’s Financial Services Advisory Practice Tek Yew Chia was also present to delvier a keynote presentation on global fintech outlook and trends.

KPMG’s Director of Global Strategy Group Diptendu Mitra also presented his findings on the current fintech landscape in Brunei, outlining opportunities in the industry while also giving his recommendations to develop a vibrant fintech ecosystem in the country.

The forum also saw panel discussions by several industry experts including AMBD’s Senior Manager Lih Cheng Kok, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam’s (BIBD’s) Head of Innovation Yazid Azahari, Progresif Cellular’s Chief Marketing Officer Devin Edwards and BEEP Digital Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer Jeffri Said.

The dialogue was moderated by KPMG’s Associate Director of Digital + Innovation Talal Ikhwan.
