The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has issued a total of $100 million sukuk (Islamic bonds) at a rental rate of 0.25 per cent.
The country’s central bank in a statement recently said that the 191st issuance of sukuk was made on 4 February and will mature on 6 May 2021 based on a 91-day tenor.
With the issuance, the Brunei government has thus far distributed over $14.33 billion worth of short-term Sukuk Al-Ijarah securities since the maiden offering on 6 April 2006.
The total holdings of the Brunei Government sukuk outstanding as of 4 February stood at $257.5 million. – Analisa Amu
