The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has issued a total of $100 million sukuk (Islamic bonds) at a rental rate of 0.1250 per cent.
The country’s central bank in a statement recently said that the 186th issuance of sukuk was made on October 8 and will mature on January 7, 2021 based on a 91-day tenor.
With the issuance, the Brunei government has thus far distributed over $14.12 billion worth of short-term Sukuk Al-Ijarah securities since the maiden offering on April 6, 2006.
The total holdings of the Brunei Government sukuk outstanding as of October 8 stood at $373.5 million. – Wardi Wasil
