The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has issued a total of $100 million sukuk (Islamic bonds) at a rental rate of 0.3750 per cent.
The country’s central bank in a statement recently said that the 1801st issuance of sukuk was made on May 7 and will mature on August 9 based on a 91-day tenor.
With the issuance, the Brunei government has thus by far distributed over $13.72 billion worth of short-term Sukuk Al-Ijarah securities since the maiden offering on April 6, 2006.
The total holdings of the Brunei Government sukuk outstanding as of May 7 stood at $353.6 million. – Analisa Amu
