The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has issued a total of $47.5 million sukuk (Islamic bonds) at a rental rate of 1.0625 per cent.
The country’s central bank in a statement recently said that the 179th issuance of sukuk was made on March 5, 2020 and will mature on March 4, 2021 based on a 364-day tenor.
With the issuance, the Brunei government has thus by far distributed over $13.52 billion worth of short-term Sukuk Al-Ijarah securities since the maiden offering on April 6, 2006.
The total holdings of the Brunei Government sukuk outstanding as of March 5 stood at $294.6 million. – Analisa Amu
