The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has issued a total of $50 million sukuk (Islamic bonds) at a rental rate of 0.2500 per cent.
The country’s central bank in a statement recently said that the 182nd issuance of sukuk was made on June 18 and will mature on June 17, 2021 based on a 364-day tenor.
With the issuance, the Brunei government has thus by far distributed over $13.77 billion worth of short-term Sukuk Al-Ijarah securities since the maiden offering on April 6, 2006.
The total holdings of the Brunei Government sukuk outstanding as of June 18 stood at $353.6 million. – Analisa Amu
