The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has issued a total of $96 million sukuk (Islamic bonds) at a rental rate of 0.8125 per cent.
The country’s central bank in a statement recently said that the 180th issuance of sukuk was made on April 9 and will mature on July 9 based on a 91-day tenor.
With the issuance, the Brunei government has thus by far distributed over $13.62 billion worth of short-term Sukuk Al-Ijarah securities since the maiden offering on April 6, 2006.
The total holdings of the Brunei Government sukuk outstanding as of April 9 stood at $304.6 million. – Analisa Amu
