More than 150 students gathered at the first leg of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam’s (AMBD’s) Financial Awareness Roadshow at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) today.
The roadshow which was held in conjunction to this year’s National Savings Day aimed to promote the importance of financial management and independence among youths, as part of the authority’s initiative to develop a financially literate generation.
It was also designed to equip students with relevant monetary management skills so they can have a healthier financial lifestyle before they embark into the labour market.
Besides setting up information booths and displays, several activities were also lined up to encourage more engagements from students to learn anything that relates to financial management and goals.
Some of those games involve tasking students to make the best financial choices out of the options given – and their results will be further evaluated by officials supervising the games.
Besides AMBD, Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), Employees Trust Fund (TAP), Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management (CIBFM), Financial Planning Association of Brunei Darussalam (FPAB), Junior Achievement (JA), Takaful Brunei AM (TBA) and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) also participated in the roadshow.
The next roadshows will be held at Laksamana College of Business (LCB) on tomorrow, Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) on July 31, University Teknologi Brunei (UTB) on August 1 and Universiti Brunei Darussalam on August 5.
Additionally, AMBD said it will also be hosting its 4th Financial Fun Fair at the Jerudong Park Colonnade from August 17 to 18, featuring a host of family fun-packed activities in conjunction to the National Savings Day.
