Australian parliamentarians visit Brunei

A delegation of Australian Parliament members are currently visiting Brunei to build closer ties between the two countries.

Led by Mr Rowan Ramsey MP, the delegation comprises Mr Ian Goodenough MP, Mr Julian Hill MP and Senator Barry O’Sullivan.

Through the visit, they aim to gain a deeper understanding of Brunei and further develop mutual cooperation.

Yesterday, the delegation met with the Speaker of the State Legislative Council (LegCo) of Brunei, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Rahman Dato Setia Hj Mohd Taib.

The Australian parliamentarians also participated in a dialogue with other LegCo members, followed by a tour of the LegCo building.

Afterwards, the delegation called on Brunei’s Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Hj Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Hj Mohd Yusof, to discuss bilateral relations between Australia and Brunei.

The Australian Parliament members will conclude their visit tomorrow.
