Azmi Abdul Hadzid emerged as the overall champion of the Elite and U-23 category of the PWM Porsche Survivor Series Criterium after scoring 390 points at the fourth and final race yesterday.
The national cyclist came to the top after beating fellow athletes Abdul Hadrie Morsidi and Amiruddin Hj Mohd Amir who came second and third in the category with 365 and 300 points respectively.
Meanwhile, Mohd Radzi Tamat who was the runner-up in the second episode of the criterium managed to lift his game up, claiming fourth place from eighth with 138 points.
The fifth place was claimed by Arif Rafiee Amir Hamzah with 110 points.
Other winners include Reduan Yusop in the Master category, Muhammadussowdeq Hj Mohd Hairolrani for Novice and Rozaine Hj Ratu for Veteran category.
Cyclists were also evaluated based on their performance throughout the race, with “sprint” points awarded to every top three cyclists at every five laps.
The Elite and U-23 ran for 30 laps, while the rest were 20 laps each.
Top sprinters named as the winners yesterday include Amiruddin for Elite and U-23, Reduan for Masters, Rozaine Hj Ratu for Veteran and Pg Nizem Pg Hj Matassan for Novice.
Prizes worth over $25,000 including four limited edition Porsche Chronograph Watches were given to the winners yesterday.
Presenting the prizes to the winners were Sherly Tan from QAF Eurokars and Azlan Ahmad from Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM).
