Bedah Karya looks closely on local literary works

More than 30 academics participated in the “Bedah Karya” – an activity designed to look closely into literary works of renowned local writers – at the Book Fair recently.

The session which was held at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex saw teachers, lecturers and students critically looking into works written by Jabit Abdul Aziz and Maya Brunei – recipients of Southeast Asia Write Award 2015.

Jabit Abdul Aziz is a prolific writer at the Language and Literature Bureau, while Maya Brunei whose real name is Hj Jamaluddin Aspar a writer whose short stories, poetries and plays have been actively published since 2008.

Dr Chong Ah Fok, deputy principal at St Andrew’s School who had published novels since 1985 and Dr Hj Morsidi Hj Muhammad, a member of the Southeast Asia Literary Council (MASTERA) Brunei were literary figures who helped lead the event.
