A total of 172 individuals braved the needle and bled for a cause at Brunei Gas Carriers’ 8th annual blood donation drive held recently at McDonald’s Drive-Thru outlets.
The drive which was organised to commemorate World Blood Donor Day aimed to support the country’s blood bank supply.
It was also one of the company’s social investment initiatives held in partnership with RIPAS Blood Bank Centre and McDonald’s Brunei.
“This is the third time BGC has hosted drives at McDonald’s, with this year being the first time for it to be held over two weekends and at both of the franchise’s drive-thru branches,” said BGC in a statement.
The first session that was held on June 20 at McDonald’s Drive-Thru Jerudong collected 71 pints of blood while the second session on Saturday held at McDonald’s Drive-Thru Lambak received 101 pints.
In support of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country, a booking system was implemented to ensure that there would be no over-crowding and only a maximum of five donors could be accommodated every 30 minutes.
Strict precautionary measures and MOH guidelines were applied during the blood donation drive, ensuring both staff and blood donors were safe at all times.
