Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has been recognised as one of the best banks in Asia-Pacific (2018), for its strong development progress especially in pushing for cashless, cardless banking system throughout the nation.

The bank was awarded by leading financial publication Global Finance as part of its 25th Annual Best Bank Awards, on the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in Bali, Indonesia.

The bank’s chairman Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah said such achievement showcases the capability of Brunei’s institution and its people onto a regional level.

“It is also in line with Brunei’s Vision 2035, that is to become a nation widely recognised for the accomplishments of its well-educated and highly skilled people, as measured by international standards,” he said.

“InsyaAllah, we will continue to build on this success and further strengthen our position as one of the best banks in the region, reflecting on Brunei’s progression as a viable destination for investment and FDI,

“At the same time, we will sharpen our focus on promoting financial inclusion and awareness within the country,” he added.

On top of the Global Finance award, BIBD recently collected the “Best Mobile Banking Application” and “Best Digital Bank in Brunei – 2017” given by World Finance, as well as “Best Retail Bank” in Brunei by The Asian Banker for the six consecutive year.
