Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) was feted with two Global Good Governance (3G) awards at the 4th 3G Awards gala dinner held recently in Jakarta.

The two awards – the “3G Best Community Development Initiative” and “3G Women Empowerment” – were given to BIBD following the success of its BIBD Connects and BIBDSEED projects.

BIBD Connects is a container-building built to include Brunei’s only drive-thru ATM, which is currently located in Kg Perpindahan Lambak Kanan.

The site was transformed from a desolate location by the bank to provide the community and MSMEs a platform to interact, host more activities and grow their economies together.

The BIBDSEED on the other hand is a special underprivileged mothers empowerment entrepreneurship development programme aimed at transforming single and struggling mothers into successful businessowners capable to compete in both local and international markets.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the bank was its Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Hj Mohammad Yusri bin Hj Wahsalfelah.

BIBD Managing Director and CEO Mubashar Khokhar expressed his joy over the accomplishment, adding that it is a testament of collected efforts between multiple agencies towards building a sustainable and dynamic economy for Brunei.

The agencies include the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports who also played an integral part towards in developing the bank’s flagship project BIBDSEED.

“This whole of nation approach that has culminated in the successes of BIBD Connects and BIBDSEED would have only materialised from the commitment and drive of all parties involved,” he added.
