Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) is putting its hi-tech payment solutions and capabilities via its BIBD NEXGEN to a spotlight at the ongoing TechXpo 2019, in its bid to drive Brunei’s aspirations for cashless economy and a more tech-savvy, cost-friendly business environment.

The BIBD NEXGEN universe is a digital platform that connects everyone through mobile-led technologies, with available payment facilities now include QuickPay, contactless cards and BIBD Wave.

These services are catered towards mobility and convenience, aimed at bridging the gap between customers and business owners, particularly budding entrepreneurs; and to promote the ease of doing business in Brunei while also creating a progressive and pro-business economy.

The BIBD NEXGEN platform showcases the bank’s intent to transform traditional banking to the fintech age, while at the same time promoting strategic partnerships among different industries and going beyond Brunei’s shores with regional and international collaborations.

This is in line with the ‘Digital Payment Roadmap for Brunei Darussalam’ which was launched late last year by Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), the country’s financial industry regulator and central bank.

The five-year roadmap sets out key strategies towards the creation of a Digital Payment Nation which include greater adoption of digital payment solutions to promote market interoperability and encourage fair market competition.

It also aspired to heighten public awareness and education geared towards building digital trust and market confidence towards the acceptance of digital payments.

As the official partner Bank for the TechXpo 2019, BIBD aims to encourage visitors to use and experience all the cashless payment methods powered by BIBD NEXGEN.

“We just want our customers and visitors to enjoy and try out our convenient and hassle-free digital and cashless payment solutions,” BIBD Head of Retail Banking Group Hajah Nurul Akmar Haji Jaafar, said, of the bank’s drive in promoting cashless payments at the ongoing tech exhibition.

Cashless payments also give more security as shoppers can carry less cash and this eliminates a lot of risks associated with carrying cash,” she added.

BIBD will be at the TechXpo until this Sunday, during which it will offer fee waivers on financing products and credit cards as well as exciting corporate gifts when customers sign up to products and services.
