BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) recently welcomed its second BIBD Connects facility along with a giant frame that is hoped to attract more visitors to come to the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas (TMJE) at the capital.
Besides featuring an ATM and a branchless banking service, the new Connects facility located at the heart of the 12-hectare TMJE also housed vendors selling food and beverages as well as souvenirs.
BIBD started its BIBD Connects project last year, which culminated into the completion of its first branch in Lambak Kanan – earning the bank its 3G Best Community Development Initiative at the 4th Global Good Governance Awards early this year.
Retaining its concept of using containers, BIBD however did not include a drive-thru ATM at its second branch as it wanted to be creative on what it could offer for the future BIBD Connects its plans to build.
While the first branch has the drive-thru ATM, the second one has the branchless banking facility, BIBD’s Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Division Hj Mohammad Yusri Hj Wahsalfela.
He added that BIBD is expecting to have more Connects branches and is in the process of identifying more locations – with each of them bearing traits that especially distinct from one another.
Launching the new facility recently was the Minister of Development and Co-Chairman of BSB Planning and Development Committee Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Hj Suhaimi Hj Gafar, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Hj Ali Apong and BIBD Managing Director and CEO Mubashar Khokhar.
