Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has received the Outstanding International Collaboration Award (OICA) by the Islamic Banking and Finance Malaysia (IBFIM) in recognition for the local bank’s continuous efforts in developing talents in Islamic finance in its organisation.

BIBD received the award from IBFIM during the recent Global Islamic Finance Forum 2018 (GIFF2018) in Malaysia.

IBFIM is a talent development institution specialising in technical proficiency in Islamic finance. The organisation provides various learning platforms to support the industry internationally.

In a statement, BIBD said it has 60 certified Islamic financial planners since 2011.

BIBD’s Deputy Managing Director Hjh Noraini Hj Sulaiman said the certification is essential as it enables BIBD’s employees to offer highly proficient and informed consultation services.

It had also enabled them to take control of the necessary marketing tools to continue giving the best banking experience to the bank’s customers, added Hjh Noraini.

BIBD is the largest financial institution in the sultanate, leading the market in terms of assets, financings and deposits.

Currently headquartered at the capital, the bank now has a nationwide network of 17 branches and 67 ATMs altogether.
