BIBD teams up with Pakistan High Commission for Islamic art exhibition

BANK Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) today launched an Islamic Calligraphy, Painting and Art Exhibition at its Perdana Lounge, Kiulap. 

Collaborating with the Pakistan High Commission, the exhibition will be held until June 4. 

Launching the event was Pakistan High Commissioner to Brunei Major General Tariq Rashid Khan, along with BIBD CEO and Managing Director Mubashar Khokhar. 

Part of Pakistan’s 78th National Day celebration, the exhibition showcases the works of renowned Pakistani calligrapher and painter, Zulfikar Ali. 

Zulfikar previously told The Bruneian that he has been in the art scene for 35 years, taking pride in Islamic calligraphy while at the same time paint beautiful landscapes and living subjects, particularly, horses. 

He previously showcased the same artworks at the Malay Technology Museum at Kota Batu. 

BIBD’s Head of Retail Banking Hjh Nurul Akmar Hj Md Jaafar said: 

“Alhamdulillah, this collaboration also represents a good opportunity for our public to preview, and might even own a piece of international Islamic art for their own homes, especially for the upcoming festive month of Aidilfitri. This collaboration is also part of our continuous initiative to promote cross cultural infusion in the lines of arts and calligraphy.”  

The exhibition will continue for a second display at the BIBD’s Perdana lounge in Bandar Seri Begawan from June 8 to June 13.
