Brunei December Festival back for more

BRUNEI December Festival will return for the second time this year, bringing in more exciting events and activities, announced Brunei Tourism Board.

Following the success of the previous festival, the board will be organising the month-long event again together with various stakeholders and strategic partners, aimed to attract residents to travel domestic.

Speaking at the press conference held at Times Square Shopping Centre, Deputy Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali said that the festival will help stimulate the growth of domestic tourism as well as international visitors to choose Brunei as one of their preferred holiday destinations.

“The festival is also organised to coincide with the annual Brunei Salebration to encourage local residents to spend in the country that will spur the domestic economy and increase business opportunities for SMEs,” he said.

He added: “We are announcing the events early because we want to create awareness for December and give airlines, restaurants, retail companies and opportunities to collaborate and create spin off effects.”

More than 40,000 local and international visitors attended the events and activities conducted during the festival last year.

Over 45 events will be held throughout the December festival across four districts which categories include Food, Islamic, Sports and Adventure, Culture and Creative Arts, Recreation and Sales.

Some of the confirmed events which are slated to take place from December 1 until 31 include The Big Bake Sale, Seafood Saturday, Muslim Youth Camp, World Nasyeed Festival, 3rd Green Jewel Night Run and YES Letop, among others.
