BRUNEI suffered a 0-1 loss at the hands of Timor Leste last night, despite the game being brought to an even pace.
Timor Leste broke the deadlock after its Jose Maria Does Reis scored a goal via the penalty box, following a foul committed by one of the Bruneian players 20 minutes into the first half.
The first score broke Brunei’s play; as players began to lose control of the game, with sloppy passes and attempts to the goal posts resulting to zero.
Few fouls were committed last night, with yellow cards issued to Bruneian Martin Haddy Khalilidden and Amin Sisa, as well as Timor Leste’s scorer Dos Reis.
Despite recovering from this state in the second half, the Bruneian team only managed to switch to a more possessive play until the end of the game.
Brunei will have a chance to redeem itself against the two-time champion Thailand at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on April 27.
Tonight, The Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) Championship will proceed with the two giants, Myanmar and Thailand pitting their skills at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
