“They have been quite promising so far. Let’s hope they could perform well and get what they deserve for this year’s APICTA challenge,” said Hjh Ismawati Hj Ismail, senior manager at the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI), prior to the team’s departure from the Brunei International Airport yesterday.

Brunei’s participation in APICTA is an initiative pushed by AITI to stimulate innovation and creativity in ICT, as well as to support developments in the industry by encouraging individuals, students and businesses compete at the international level.

Since 2008, Brunei has bagged two awards, 13 merits and four special mentions in the APICTA awards.

Also joining the international competition were students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Universiti Teknologi Brunei, who will be presenting their projects MechSim, GoBacker and Droplet.

Students from St John’s School, Chung Ching Middle School and Chung Hua Middle School are also tagging along with the group to compete in the competition’s Schools level.
