All citizens and residents in Brunei Darussalam including foreign residents will be receiving the COVID-19 vaccination for free, according to the Vaccination Strategy of Brunei Darussalam released by Ministry of Health.

The vaccine distribution will be implemented in three phases, though no date has been disclosed, in which the first phase involves frontliners, senior citizens aged 60 and above and students who are pursuing education overseas.

The second phase will involve the staff of childcare centres, high-risk adults and teachers. Meanwhile, the general public aged 18 and above will be in the third phase.

Vaccination centres have been allocated in each district across the country; for Brunei –Muara, it will be at the Indoor Stadium, Tutong District at Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital, Belait District at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital and Temburong District at Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Hospital.

In the vaccination programme which is available at MoH’s website, the ministry also included the steps to book for the vaccine via the BruHealth app.

Inside the app, under the “COVID-19 Vaccination” tab, applicants are required to read the vaccine participation statement and answer the screening questions.

Next, fill in the consent form and place your booking. A reminder will be sent to you 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Then, applicants will be given a QR code containing information of the set appointment. Should applicants experience any symptoms seven days after receiving the vaccine, they are required to report them via the BruHealth app.

The COVID-19 vaccine is to protect against the COVID-19 virus, also known as SARS CoV-2 which has caused the Coronavirus Disease 2019.

The SARS CoV-2 is a new type of coronavirus that is easily spread by infected droplets in the air through close personal contact, coughing and sneezing. 

In most cases, it is a mild illness but for some people, it can cause serious health complications or death, said the health ministry in a statement.
