Bruneian entrepreneur shortlisted for Shell Top Ten Innovators Awards

Shell LiveWIRE has shortlisted a Bruneian business owner, Azim Yusof, to vie for this year’s Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Awards.

The founder of CT Learn is one of the 21 finalists for the award, which will culminate during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW2018) in November at the Startup Nations Summit Gala in Ireland.

CT Learn, which is categorised under the Award’s Top Ten Innovator’s Social Enterprise, is a web-based platform where students and teachers can apply as home tutors. The service connects students and teachers according to district, subject and time available.

“Azim competing under the global spotlight in the Awards is an opportunity to showcase the talent and innovation of our business community. We encourage everyone to vote for CT Learn in the public vote,” LiveWIRE Brunei Programme Director Pg Redzuan Pg Hj Abbas in a statement.

The director said that CT Learn will stand to win the Award’s US$20,000 grand prize in the Top Ten Innovator category.

The public may vote for their favourite businesses at until July 1.

The public vote results will help determine the ten winners while the ranking of the Top Ten to be determined by an expert panel of judges which will be announced during GEW2018.

The Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Innovators Awards is a global competition highlighting and rewarding businesses that demonstrate excellence in innovation.

The annual competition is open to all alumni of Shell LiveWIRE, a flagship enterprise development programme of oil and gas company Shell.

This year the awards are delivered in partnership with Shell Retail identifying outstanding Shell LiveWIRE businesses which can enhance the sustainability of Shell Retail business and operations.

For the awards, all ten winners will receive an award package that includes mentoring support by a Shell expert, the opportunity to benefit from market linkages, global exposure, possibility to be considered as a vendor to Shell (Retail) and participate in a two-day exciting Top Ten Innovators event during GEW 2018.

In a press release, Shell said it supports new ideas and entrepreneurs who are innovating in waste reduction, energy efficient solutions, cleaner energy and positive social impact.

This initiative will ensure that the world will meet its progress towards more and cleaner energy solutions and a low-carbon future, the statement added.
