Micro, small and medium startups can now get more tips and guidance on how to effectively run their businesses via the newly set up Brunei Mentors for Entrepreneurs Network (BMEN).

The platform which was established through a partnership between Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Brunei Darussalam (ABAC Brunei) is a voluntary avenue that connects early stage startups with business mentors in an effective, structured and coordinated manner.

These mentors comprise successful entrepreneurs, experts, professionals and academic figures from various industries and business backgrounds will be sharing their experience, knowledge and skills with their mentees.

Besides serving as an impact initiative that promotes local business growths, BMEN also aimed to foster potential business partnerships between mentors and mentees.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) Pg Hj Mohd Hasnan Pg Hj Ali Hassan who is also DARe’s board member stressed that successful business mentoring hinges on equipping MSMEs or the mentee to navigate the challenges of the everchanging business environment.

“The establishment of BMEN to gather business mentors to provide guidance is very timely as we gear towards advancing and bringing our MSMEs to the forefront of our economic growth,” he said.

With continuous effort and coordination, BMEN can be the country’s “game-changer” as it presents opportunities for MSMEs to meet and learn from those who have already established their reputation in their respective field, he said.

Besides allowing startups to learn from the experts, mentors are also presented with opportunities to improve as they will also be receiving new ideas and information from their mentees.

Pg Hj Mohd Hasnan also hoped to see greater participation from business mentors in providing guidance to early stage businesses.

Additionally, those who are interested to be part of BMEN’s mentoring programme, either as a mentor or a mentee, are welcomed to register at www.bruneimentors.com.
