Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP) and Brunei Shell Marketing Company (BSM) handed over contributions to the Ministry of Health yesterday as part of the COVID-19 relief efforts.
The companies contributed fuel vouchers for the use of medical emergency/critical vehicles and services under the ministry and daily necessities for frontliners.
On hand to present the donations to the health minister YB Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham Haji Jaafar were Managing Director of BSM Muhammad Norshafiee Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Jalil and Managing Director of BSP Dr Ceri M Powell.
“I am extremely proud of BSM staff for raising money internally for this unique initiative to provide fuel for the healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak. While we provide fuel for the nation, the healthcare workers are working extremely hard in protecting and guiding us through this pandemic,” said the BSM managing director.
BSM staff donated of scrubs, whiteboards, shampoo, anti-bacterial soaps and hand sanitisers under its #BSMCares Campaign.
Furthermore, Dr Ceri M Powell also handed over BSP staff’s donation to purchase hospital beds for the newly built National Isolation Centre in Tutong.
Under the #BSPCares initiative, BSP launched the #100beds campaign which received tremendous response from staff which donations exceed the 100 beds target.
The campaign was launched on March 31 and what was intended to last for two weeks, the targeted number of beds surpassed within 24 hours it debuted.
“It is heart-warming that BSP staff are supporting the public in Care initiatives as well as providing energy for the nation. I am also delighted that all our BSJV companies, namely BSP, BSM and BLNG, together with BGC are supporting the Ministry of Health in many ways in this challenging time,” said Dr Powell.
The handover on Monday took place at Al-Afiah Hall at the Ministry of Health. – Analisa Amu
