Calling all food lovers, there’s a pinktastic new food joint in town!
From greasy burgers to thicc’ mikshakes, Club Fryday is the latest addition to the myriad of shops and restaurants at Gadong Central.
Dazzling in neon pink especially after dark, the eye-popping eatery located at Unit 32, Block D of the commercial area has already received a good reception from customers.
The homegrown brand exploded on social media since its debut, thanks to its eye-catching pink Instagram feed and meme-culture fun captions.
Inside, the eatery is a sensory overload of fluorescent pink lighting. Club Fryday leans into retro aesthetics from the neon-glow ‘80s, which is reflected in the decor and design elements – undeniably Instagram-worthy spot.
Apart from its vibrant and fun view, the food joint is all about good vibes, the perfect spot to hang out with family and friends.
Despite only accommodating a maximum of 10 customers, its modest size adds to the appeal of the place being an intimate space.
The founder of Club Fryday’s goal was to create a space that would pay homages to the retro-futuristic scene and cater to a meme-loving generation.
“Club Fryday exists for those who are in search of a subculture community with progressive beliefs, no-nonsense attitude and of course for the love of memes,” said Edmund Lim.
Club Fryday began its soft opening in early May while the founders initially wanted to get things up and running last year, but their plans were put on hold due to the pandemic.
“Since we’re not able to travel, we wanted Club Fryday to be different from the usual fast-food joint and be a place where everyone can just hang out for good food and a good time,” he added.
What’s on the menu?
Carrying the tagline “The Opposite of Self-Control”, the food joint offers dangerously enticing burgers with experimental flavours and sinful thick milkshakes.
Edmund shared that Club Fryday intends to take the traditional burger-and-milkshake meal to a whole new level with six different unique burgers on the menu, all created by him.
The menu is filled with playful and cheeky names like “Talk to me, Never” or “Harajuku Boujee” that would bring joy to the meme-loving generation reading it.
A crowd favourite is the “Friday Affair” burger that comes with a perfectly grilled all-beef patty combined with mascarpone, tomatoes, onions, melted cheese and homemade basil creme fraiche, all nestled within a delightfully warm bun – definitely a formula for a juicy, lip-smacking burger.
For those who want to live extravagantly, you can sink your teeth into their Harajuku Boujee Burger with its buttery toasted bun and well-seasoned house-ground beef patty garnished with tomatoes, roasted seaweed, cheese and a special house Mentaiko sauce, easily hits the right spot.
Other menu items include their fried-to-golden-perfection fries topped with a generous amount of salsa and your choice of in-house sauce including, Mentaiko Sauce, Garlic Aioli, Spicy Mayonaise, Alfredo and Basil Creme Fraiche.
The menu also includes a wide range of classic milkshakes and soda pop for customers with a sweet tooth and its Strawberry Thicc milkshake being the highlighted drink.
Talking about future plans, the food eatery is planning to expand its menu as well as the brand.
“We aim to grow through the influence and visions of our community around Brunei and hopefully neighboring countries,” he concluded.
