Cameron, a Schlumberger company recently marked a major milestone with the official opening of its five-hectare Surface Facility in Belait.

Construction of the new facility consisting of 4000 square-metre workshop, warehouse and hands-on training facilities and a 2000 square-metre office began in April 2017 and was completed last year.  The company then gradually installs the necessary equipment to make it fully operational as it is today.

Schlumberger will be using the Surface Facility to locally manufacture and support the installation and maintenance of oilfield for Brunei and the surrounding region.

Vice President and GeoMarket Manager for Schlumberger South and East Asia Mohsin Al Hadhrami said in his speech that he expected the new facility to elevate Schlumberger’s service performance through on-site technical expertise and best practices.

“We have a strong commitment to Brunei and it is an honor to be here to celebrate yet another key milestone for our operations in Brunei,” Mohsin said.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar Haji Yahya who launched the facility as the guest of honour said that the facility will not only support the Brunei market in the various services it provides but also to serve as a regional hub for repair, maintenance of oilfield equipment.

He hoped for both Schlumberger and Cameron to increase the scope of the facility and expand its scheme to generate more value for the country.

Also present at the event Country Managing Director for Schlumberger Brunei, Malaysia, and the Philippines Eric Voon and Group Operation Manager for Cameron South and East Asia Adrian Mendoza as well as representatives of other oil and gas stakeholders in Brunei.
