Local online marketplace heydomo, in collaboration with the lifestyle commercial space, The Box is introducing its latest Ramadhan offering domoGarai, the sultanate’s latest online gerai Ramadhan.

Established at the end of April, domoGarai was conceived as a means to “bring back the gerai feel” to the local community during the fasting month, who are unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently affecting the nation.

“Our idea stemmed from the announcement that the annually anticipated gerai Ramadhan was cancelled due to the pandemic,” said Chief Executive Officer of heydomo, Darryn Liew.

“We wanted to provide the community with an online gerai instead where our participating vendors would sell food and drinks that you would find in the gerai,” he added in an interview with The Bruneian.

A total of eight vendors have already signed up under the domoGarai namely Courtyard Pizza, Cuppa, Little Bombay, Streats, Soto Hj Tuah, Myplace Cafe, Gerai 516 Kg Pelambayan and Grill Studio Catering.

“We have had other vendors who wish to join (domoGarai) so there will be an increase in the number of vendors soon,” Liew explained, adding that domoGarai is currently seeking barbecuing vendors who are selling tongkeng, satay or fish.

“The onboarding process is very simple. Vendors would only need to prepare a menu for us as long as their products do not clash with other vendors,” he added.

Additionally, by registering with domoGarai, Liew stated that vendors will be able to make use of the space and facilities provided at The Box such as water supply and electricity, to cook and prepare their offerings.

Vendors however will need to bring their own cooking appliances.

In turn, customers will be able to place orders from different vendors, checkout their orders in one shopping cart and will only be charged for delivery per cart, rather than per vendor.

“The response (so far) has been good as we receive about 20 orders per day (however) we’re hoping that with new vendors coming onboard, it would entice more customers to order from domoGarai,” Liew went on to say.

How to order?

Customers will need to place order through the heydomo app between 11am – 3pm daily throughout the month of Ramadhan.

Once ordered, they are given a choice to either pick-up their orders at The Box in Telanai or have them delivered with charges.

The pick-up option is meant to run seamlessly, where customers will be able to do a drive-thru at The Box where orders will be brought directly to your car.

Meanwhile for deliveries, drop-offs will be made to the customer’s door step between 3pm to 5pm.
