Famous Amos wants to establish a stronger presence in Brunei, following the good reception received after opening its first shop at Times Square Shopping Centre last year.
The positive response has granted the brand, which is famous for its crunchy, bite-sized cookies a second spot, which was officially opened at The Mall in Gadong today.

With its second outlet launched, the managing firm FACC (B) which is a subsidiary of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Corp Malaysia now wants to study the sultanate’s market further before committing to any business strategies.
Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Corp Malaysia Director Alex Ooi in an interview shared that the idea to establish a presence in Brunei was due to the reception it received at its outlets in Miri, Sarawak.

Bruneians who frequently traveled to Miri make up to about 70 percent of Famous Amos customers, Ooi shared, which is a good indication that the company may be able to grow its market further by entering the sultanate.
“Plus it will be more convenient for Bruneians to get our products as they do not have to spend extra expenses and travel far to get our chocolate chip cookies,” he said.

“In terms of pricing, our rates may be comparable to Miri but there will be points where it will be slightly higher due to the (fluctuating) currency conversion rate,”
“Otherwise, customers can still enjoy the same offerings we introduced to our Miri outlets, with an addition of drinks and chocolate products that are sourced from local distributors,” he added.

Opening up its second outlet, Ooi said his firm will spend some time to evaluate the response and then decide its next move.
If the Famous Amous decided to open up a new branch however, Ooi said his firm will first be targeting shopping malls before looking at other channels like what it has done in Malaysia. He also added the possibility of coming up with products that a specially catered to Bruneian clients.

Ooi however stressed that as of now, his firm will prioritise the marketing of its core products and hope that it can penetrate the Bruneian market well.
Additionally the director also welcomed Bruneians to visit its latest branch, as there is an ongoing promotions allowing customers to get 100 grams free with every purchase of 200 grams of cookies.
