More than 50 donors braved the needle at the recent blood donation campaign held by Fitness Zone (FZ) Brunei at its Kiulap branch.

The one-day event was jointly organised by Jerudong Park Medical Centre in conjunction with the health club’s ongoing New Me Transformation Challenge.

It was not the first time for the establishment to conduct the drive with JPMC and for the past years, it has collected to over 1000 pints of blood.

A third time donor, in an interview with The Bruneian, said that donating blood does not only benefit him physically but spiritually too.

“It makes me feel better and for me, it is another way of helping others who are in need and not necessarily in monetary terms if you do not have the means to do so. One donor can help three patients,” he said.

Another donor Jean Ong, who is also a participant of the challenge, thanked FZ for all the positive experiences she gained throughout the competition and blood donation is one of the initiatives that she praised.

Talking about the six months challenge, she added: “As I go on, more and more initiatives and life learning the contest is teaching me. Not only helping those who are around us but having the determination to choose what is good and strive to overcome the problems.”

Moreover, FZ Managing Director Wu Chun was also present at the drive accompanied by his children who witnessed their father bleed for a cause.

“FZ organised blood donation twice a year and we always aspire to influence others to do the same and help the community. The health club is not just about exercising but also do good deeds together such as this with our (club) members,” said Brunei’s own entrepreneur and celebrity.

For the body transformation challenge, Wu Chun noted that there are positive results from the participants after going one month into the programme.

“I see that everyone is very hardworking… we see changes from their before and after pictures. It is going to be challenging too as the points are quite close and that everyone wants to be qualified to the next round,” he said.

For Wu Chun, results do not matter, he added, but one should focus on changing one’s lifestyle and understand the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

“Even if they don’t win, I hope they continue to lead a healthy life as the saying goes, health is wealth. When they start doing it, they will slowly influence their loved ones and people around them… it is like a ripple effect,” he concluded.

FZ is currently having free consultation health assessment by appointment and contact them at 2232338 for bookings or other enquiries.
