Fitness Zone (FZ) Brunei is committed to supporting the fitness training needs of a local boxing champion Muhammad Irfan who is best known as “The Brawler of Brunei”.

The boxer and his team are given three one-year unlimited passport memberships at FZ and access to the fitness centre’s personal trainers.

He is the only Bruneian who signed a deal with the Mayweather boxing family in Las Vegas where he will be trained and assisted by the legendary former American professional boxer Jeff Mayweather.

Managing Director and owner of Fitness Zone Wu Chun who is a sports enthusiast and a former national basketball player has always supported local athletes and Olympians not just as part of FZ’s social responsibility but also a patriotic way of giving back towards the development of sports in Brunei, allowing them to excel and compete internationally.

“It is not always easy for our local athletes to train themselves and be globally competitive. With our little way, we want to appreciate their hard work and motivate them towards enhancing their skills and potentials further through the provision of a training ground,” said Chun.

For FZ, the partnership with Irfan is an opportunity to make more Bruneians aware of the benefits of boxing and ultimately promote the sports by conducting boxing clinics and education sessions with the boxing champion.

“Irfan and his team can train at our facility that has it all, state-of-the-art equipment, a world-class competition Everlast boxing ring and a team of certified fitness and personal trainers who will support him on his fitness regime,” said the managing director.

On his part, Irfan is grateful to Chun and FZ for endorsing him and giving him a training facility he can call his “Training Home”.

“My management and I are looking forward to a positive and productive partnership with Fitness Zone,” said the 30-year-old who has been boxing competitively for the past five years.

His head coach Mayweather in a statement said that Irfan has a lot to offer to the boxing world.

“He is a very skilled fighter and needs some time tuning to take him to the next level and that will be my job and mission to get him where he needs to be,” he added.

A handover ceremony between Irfan and Wu Chun was held at Fitness Zone Kiulap.
