His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Thursday received in audience Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, who is on a three-day visit to Brunei Darussalam.
During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual importance to both countries.
Accompanying the State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China was Yu Hong, the Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Qian Keming, the Vice Minister of Commerce, Wu Jianghao, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deng Boqing, Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency.
Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Hj Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Hj Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Hj Mohd Yusof, the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.
Yi’s visit to Brunei Darussalam reflects the warm and long-standing relations between both countries, as well as China’s full support for Brunei Darussalam as ASEAN Chair in 2021.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and China as well as ASEAN-China dialogue relations. – Wardi Wasil
