His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei has urged the government to provide better infrastructure and support for youths, as to enable them to contribute well to the country’s economic growth.
The monarch in a televised address on the eve of the 35th National Day Celebration yesterday expressed high hopes over the younger generation, who continued to showcase great achievements towards the country’s developments.
“Little by little, our hopes came to be realised as youths continued to make encouraging accomplishments, economically and socially (but) at the same time, government agencies too should not be far behind to provide facilities and assistance to them,” he said.
“I want to see all of the efforts to be intensified, until youths can really stand side-by-side with the government and for that, relevant agencies need to enhance its roles as facilitators in providing better infrastructure, transparent regulation and support,”
“But in focusing on the youths, welfare and care towards senior citizens should not be neglected,” he added.
At the same time, the monarch had also urged government agencies to manage projects and investments efficiently and continue intensifying its efforts to facilitate better business environments and generate competent, employable human resource for the nation.
He also highlighted the importance of embracing the digital economy and keeping with technological advances, but reminded Brunei to also give special attention to cybersecurity issues.
Additionally, the monarch also said that Brunei will continue its cooperation with other countries to foster stronger economic integration – regionally and globally.
