QD Roses Vision Production has launched its first ever local horror movie titled “Ranggau” at the Arena Cineplex Kiulap recently.
The homegrown film which aimed to support the local film production scene in the sultanate was directed by Roslee Metali, making his feature directorial debut after producing several TV projects previously.
The one and a half hour movie tells the story of a supernatural creature called Ranggau,
summoned by a practitioner through black magic to serve his own selfish bidding by sacrificing his own family and murdering enemies using the creature.
The movie is set in two different period, starting off with the present day where the audience is introduced to a family of five who are terrorised by a supernatural force.
While black magic is the central subject, it is the message behind it that is at the heart of the story.
According to Roslee, it took the team four years to complete the movie while the production endured challenges along the way.
For him, regardless of the roadblocks, the film’s main focus is to grow the local television and film industry and expose local film production to a diverse genre of movies.
The director also applauded the efforts and contribution from all involved in the success of the movie and for continuously developing and promoting Brunei local movie scene.
“Ranggau” was played by a cast of local actors including Haji Firdaus, Haji Shamri, Suzana, Diana, Nysa, Ibnue, Hassnol, Shah, Rina and Taufiq Elyas.
