THE project to widen Jalan Residency and make way for a roadside parking lot will be completed sometime in June this year.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Haji Suhaimi Hj Gafar said the government has spent a total of $73 million through the 9th and 10th National Development plan on the project, which was carried out in phases.

The first phase began in 2009 costing $24.5 million, and was completed in 2013.

The second phase, which is the current one, cost $48.5 million and is due to be completed sometime in the middle of June this year.

The minister added that several facilities were taken into account in planning and implementing the project, and this includes providing parking spaces and a promenade for public, residents of Kg Ayer and visitors to engage in recreational and economic activities.

Upon completion, he said, 517 parking spaces will be available at separate locations along Jalan Residency.

He advised them to maintain its cleanliness and to stay away from vandalism and littering activities, as well as to avoid parking indiscriminately, causing traffic problems along the road.
