The Bruneian recently had the chance to take the powerful SUV for a spin around town and learned more about its craftsmanship and driving dynamics.

Rugged exterior, comfortable interior

The luxury vehicle comes in two variants – the RX300 and the RX350 F Sport.

Both carry a powerful and sporty appearance, making it hard to miss on the road and definitely turns heads wherever it goes.

The improved swift and sharp character lines from the front to the rear not only give it an attractive overall appearance but additionally promotes driving flow and consistency.

Both models sport the signature Lexus grille, however, the RX350 F Sport carries a grille with a mesh pattern of radiating “L” shapes that forms a design link.

The RX300 is equipped with 18-inch aluminum wheels while the RX350 F Sport has 20-inch aluminum wheels.

When it comes to the interior, the cutting-edge craftsmanship is impeccable from the steering wheel to the dashboard, the hand-stitched designs are truly a unique touch from Lexus.

Both models fit five passengers on comfortably padded seats that are electrically adjustable in the front.

Rear passengers will have more than enough legroom and headroom is perfect for tall individuals.

The RX300 comes with an 8-inch infotainment system while the RX350 F Sport comes with a slightly large 12-inch system and both are easily accessible from the front seats.

Quiet but dynamic performance

The RX300 is equipped with a 2.0-liter direct interjection turbocharged engine, promising a thrilling driving performance and excellent fuel economy.

The RX350 F Sport on the other hand, is equipped with a 3.5 liter V6 gasoline engine that generates exhilarating driving performance balanced with fuel efficiency.

Whilst these models offer a dynamic performance on the road, users can enjoy a peaceful ride at the same time, no matter what drive mode they prefer from Normal, Eco, Sports S to Sports S+.

Even on bumpy roads, the drive is still immaculate due to the enhancements of the suspension system that’s redesigned with a new shock absorber and brake control system.

The RX300 comes in various colours such as Sonic Quartz, Sonic Titanium, Black, Graphite Black Glass Flake, Red Mica Crystal Shine, Amber Crystal Shine, Ice Ecru Mica Metallic, Terrane Khaki Mica Metallic, Deep Blue Mica.

Meanwhile, White Nova Glass Flake and Heat Blue Contrast Layering are exclusively for the RX350 F Sport model.

Safety aspects
Apart from performance, Lexus emphasises the importance of safety for its customers with innovative active safety systems designed to help support safe, reliable and stress-free driving.

The system is accompanied by advanced passive occupant protection measures, deepening the user’s peace of mind and driving pleasure.

The two models additionally have a Blind Spot Monitor System where the quasi-millimeter-wave-radars in the rear bumper detects vehicles in the next lane that are not visible in the door mirrors.

The system will then activate an LED warning indicator in the relevant door mirror the moment a vehicle enters this blind spot.

The RX models are equipped with ten Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags – dual airbags are located in the front including a knee airbag.

The SRS cushion airbag for front passengers will support seatbelt restraint by lifting the front edge of the seat cushion during a frontal collision.

SRS side airbags can also be found at the front and outboard second-row seats as well as SRS curtain shield bags for the front and rear door windows.

Users of the RX350 F Sport will additionally have a panoramic view monitor that displays a bird-eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings that may be difficult to see from the driver’s seat.
