The Embassy of China in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) is organising a logo design competition to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Brunei-China diplomatic relations which is slated for next year.
“The year of 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei,” said the Chinese Ambassador Yu Hong in her welcoming remarks on the launching ceremony of the logo design competition that was held recently.
“Thirty years is of great importance to the Chinese people, which means steadily moving towards the goal and approaching maturity,” she added.
The foreign envoy noted how the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the world profound changes “never seen in a century” yet peace and development remain the underlying trend of the times.
“The new era calls for unity and collective action to cope with global challenges, commitment to multilateralism and international order, and joint efforts to maintain world peace, stability and development,” she said.
“In this regard, China and Brunei set a good example of relations between countries of different sizes based on equality and mutual benefit for common development,” she added.
“China will continue working with Brunei to jointly assume responsibilities, fulfill mission and address challenges,” Yu asserted further.
Touching on the logo design competition, the work must capture the theme of commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and China, highlighting their friendship and strategic cooperative partnership.
“The best design will be jointly selected by the organisers and used in the celebration next year,” the envoy continued.
“The Chinese and Bruneian nationals in Brunei from various sectors, especially young people and students are welcome to participate. We are looking forward to seeing designs that are full of imagination and capture the theme prominently,” she went on to say.
Present as the guest of honour at the event was Deputy Permanent Secretary at MCYS, Dr. Siti Norkhalbi Hj Wahsalfelah.
