MAJU Motors Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Volkswagen vehicles in Brunei, unveiled the latest Golf GTI, featuring new facelifts, greater power and improved safety features.
The new sports hatchback is now taller, bigger and wider than its previous model with design modifications on its front and rear bumpers.
The GTI can be made out by individual tailpipes left and right that have been placed further out to the sides giving the car a wider appearance.
It also has new LED headlights, replacing the previous model’s xenon lights and a full LED tail light with an animated indicator function.
Under the hood, the new GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI engine, 350Nm torque and 230PS which is 10PS more than the previous generation. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/hr in 6.4 seconds with top speed of 248km/hr.
Volkswagen has added the Blind Spot Sensor with Rear Traffic Alert feature to the seventh generation Golf GTI.
The blind spot monitoring system is active at speeds above 30km/hr and monitors traffic behind for a range of 20 metres via radar sensors.
Moreover, the Rear Traffic Alert detects approaching vehicles within a certain area when the driver reverses out of a parking space with restricted visibility. If needed, the system can stop the vehicle with its own limits to prevent collision or reduce severity of impact.
On hand to witness the launching ceremony held at the Volkswagen showroom in Telanai were Maju Motors Director Dr Chan Sui Kiat, Maju Motors Managing Director Stefanie Chan, Maju Motors General Manager Malcolm Wong and some 100 invited guests.
