McDonald’s Brunei gave out 2,500 Sausage McMuffins to members of the public as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative held in conjunction with Brunei’s 36th National Day.

The two-day event which started on February 23 to 24, marks the fourth year of the fast-food restaurant’s participation in the national celebration.

“McDonald’s branches all over the world hold ‘National Breakfast Day’ campaigns where they give out free Breakfast Muffins to their customers,” said McDonald’s Brunei Marketing Manager, Filah Salleh.

“However in 2017, we decided to carry out the breakfast campaign during National Day events instead and made it part of our CSR to give back to the community.”

Each branch gave out 360 Sausage McMuffins respectively to customers as early as 5am on the first day and 6am the following day.

McDonald’s Brunei also provided breakfast to several groups on duty at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on Sunday including the choir group, the event’s working committee from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), paramedics, members of the Girl Guides Association and Brunei Scout Association as well as members of the media.

Speaking to The Bruneian, McDonald’s Brunei Gadong Branch Manager, Nur Adinah Hj Abd Hamid said the establishment was happy to provide breakfast to the selected groups for their hard work.

“We wanted to take the opportunity to help by atleast filling their stomachs to prepare them for the long day and as a thank you for working towards the betterment of the nation.”

“We also want to thank the public for coming in as early as 5am – the response has been amazing. We hope to continue this initiative for the years to come,” she added.

Customers were given free Sausage McMuffins at the front counter using a queue system where each person was given a coupon.

Each coupon entitles customers to an upgrade with tea or coffee and hash brown for just $2.

To further commemorate the National Day celebration, McDonalds Brunei had a two-day special promotion from February 23 to 24, where every purchase amounting to $16 will receive one free Cakoi.

Meanwhile, customers who purchase up to $26 will get four pieces of Ebi Furai and purchases of $36 will receive an Oreo McFlurry Party.
