The first batch of contributions under the ‘Projek Berbagi Rezeki KKBT McDonald’s Brunei: One Meal One Love’ initiative were distributed on Wednesday afternoon to several recipients in the Brunei-Muara district.
The contributions which were among the 1060 meals gathered during the first week of collection from May 4 to May 10, were handed to residents of the welfare home (KRK) of the Community Development Department (JAPEM), petrol attendants, construction workers and the underprivileged.
Prior to the deliveries, the meals were handed over by McDonald’s Brunei Marketing Manager, Filah Salleh to committee members of the Youth Community Transformation Club (KKBT).
From May 4 to May 10, customers who purchased meals under the One Meal One Love initiative had a choice between the Ebi Furai & Rice with Thai Chilli Sauce (M) or the 2 Piece Ayam Goreng McD Regular (M) with Fries/Rice.
“For every purchase of these meals, McDonald’s Brunei would contribute the same set towards the cause,” said Filah.
“This is one of our ways of giving back and we are happy to be apart of this amazing project. We hope the recipients will enjoy the meals and have a blessed Ramadhan and festive season.”
For this week, the second collection will take place from May 11 until May 17 where customers can choose from three set meals namely the Ebi Furai & Rice with Thai Chilli Sauce (M); the 2 Piece Ayam Goreng McD Regular (M) with Fries/Rice and Nasi Lemak McD Set B (M) 1 piece Chicken (Regular/Spicy).
“For the second batch, customers can contribute and buy the same meal for a good cause,” Filah shared, adding that purchases can be made at all three McDonald’s Brunei branches.
The remaining set meals will be distributed in phases during the month of Ramadhan and Hari Raya festive season.
“This project is hoped to instill compassion and care for the public of various levels in the community around the country,” said a KKBT representative.
The joint initiative additionally aspires to have a more effective impact in helping the government address the underprivilege particularly during the current COVID-19 situation, read a press statement.
The project is organised by the Youth and Sports Department in collaboration with the Community Development Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) together with KKBT of the Youth Centre and McDonald’s Brunei.
