The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) has been restructured and renamed into Ministry of Energy to allow the ministry to focus on energy matters, Brunei’s state broadcast Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) announced last night.

The broadcast added that the industry portfolio previously held by the ministry is now transferred to the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE).

The other portfolio is now being held by the Manpower and Employment Council (MPEC), established under the Prime Minister’s Office to replace the Manpower Council (MPC).

Two senior officials from MEMI have also been transferred to other ministries following the restructure.

Permanent Secretary (Industry) at MEMI Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan now a Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), while Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Industry) at the MEMI Tutiaty Abdul Wahab is now a Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT).
