BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
NEARLY 80 per cent of villages in Brunei can access mobile services, with telco giants Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd and DST Communications continuing to build and improve telecommunication infrastructures across the country.
Minister of Communications Yang Berhormat Abdul Mutalib Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof said 341 out of 432 villages in the sultanate are now within mobile service coverage, with recent achievement being the installation of the Progresif tower along the Telisai-Lumut Highway.
“The ministry of communications and Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) are aware that there is still room for improvements, especially for the number of villages still facing problems in getting mobile service coverage,” he said.
“We will intensify the cooperation and discussion with relevant parties to ensure that residents in those villages can gain access to mobile services,” he added.
