Over 200 businesses will be participating in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) festival – Brunei’s biggest showcase of local products and services – which is to be held at Bridex Halls from March 28 to 31.
Besides MSMEs, participating vendors also include Village Consultative Councils (MPKs) who will be exhibiting their unique One Village One Products (OVOPs), Government-linked companies as well as financial institutions and other private firms.
Representatives from foreign companies including Malaysia’s E-Mart and Everrise as well as Japan’s Minori will also be around to scout products that could be pushed into the international market.
The MSME festival organised by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) aimed at promoting entrepreneurial culture in Brunei as well as to raise awareness of programs and services provided by DARe and other relevant Government agencies.
In addition, it is also hoped that the event will provide a platform to market products and services offered by Brunei MSMEs and ultimately to identify their potential to be further developed for export.
A briefing was held yesterday to explain to vendors on the placement of their booths, which will be segmented according to the business activities carried out: Food & Beverages, Health, Beauty and Cosmetics, Fashion and Textiles, Handicrafts and Household Items, ICT as well as Services.
Vendors looking to do any live cooking are advised to opt for placements outside of the halls. It was assured that there will be dining areas in both halls to ensure comfort of both vendors and the public.
esides showcasing their products, vendors were also encouraged to participate in other activities including sharing sessions, business matching and a conference on “Tapping New Markets: Exporting Your Way to Growth” throughout the four-day event.
Seminar and talks will also be held in collaboration with the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) unit under Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI), to socialise various government reforms that benefit the local businesses in Brunei Darussalam.
