Muara Port Company (MPC) recently signed a long-term agreement with Brunei Shell Marketing Company (BSM) for the supply of bunkering services.

Through the contract, BSM will be supplying Marine Gas Oil (10 PPM) to vessels calling at Muara Port via its own dedicated barge with a total capacity of 800 metric tonnes called “Star1”, commencing October 1.

This collaboration marks a big milestone for the Port Industry in Brunei Darussalam, said MPC in a statement, where bunkering can be offered and further developed at Muara Port.

Through this synergistic relationship, MPC and BSM aim for the number of ships calling to Muara Port to increase which, will then contribute to the economy of the country.

MPC is a joint-venture company between Darussalam Assets and Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Co (Beibu) via Beibu Gulf Holding (HK) Co.

The company was established on February 15, 2017, to promote connectivity, sustainable development and economic growth.

Signing for MPC were Director of Marketing & Business Development Zhong Kunyu and Director of Strategic Management Md Akmal Hanis Hj Jefri.

Meanwhile, BSM signatories were Sales and Marketing Manager Hjh Rozalina Hj C A Mohamed and Head of Commercial Suzelawati Haji Radin.

On hand to witness the signing were representatives from MPC’s shareholders; CFO of Beibu Gulf Holding (HK) Co Lyu Guoli and Investment Manager at Darussalam Assets Johan Dato Paduka Dr Hj Johar, Chief Operating Officer of MPC Mohd Fazilah Hj Mohd Yassin and BSM Supply & Distribution Manager Hj Hairul Radzi Shahri.

Also, in attendance were senior officials from the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, management and staff from both MPC and BSM. – Analisa Amu
