Myanmar tops Group A with dominating win against Timor Leste

Defending champions Myanmar convincing 2-0 win against Timor Leste at the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Centre puts them on top of Group A with 4 points.

Win Naing Tun scored the opener in the 27th minute with a simple tap in after set up by the impressive Heit Htet Aung.

Wing Naing Tun had another opportunity to put Myanmar 2 up but Timor Leste defender Gumario Augusto Fernandes was able to put in a last ditch tackle to rescue his goalkeeper.

The second half was mostly dominated by Myanmar as they try to secure the win with a second goal. The goal finally came in injury time, scored by Heit Htet Aung.

The Timor Leste’s defence was no match for the pacey midfielder’s pace and he cooly sloted the ball past the goalkeeper. The final games of Group A will determine which team will go thru to the semi final.

Thailand will be against Timor Leste on the 29th April while Brunei Darussalam will face the leaders Myanmar on the 30th April.

Both games will be held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
