NBT Brunei organised a donation campaign on Thursday, as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme for orphans around the country.
Dubbed the ‘NBT Donation (Sedekah) to Orphans Project’, the event took place at the Lexus Showroom in Gadong aimed to bring additional Ramadhan cheer to the recipients in the spirit of ‘NBT Cares’.
Cash donations and daily necessities including chocolates, cookies, candy, Nutella and potato chips were presented by NBT Managing Director Hj Ahmad Omar Hj Husin and NBT management to the orphans and their families via a drive-through.
“On behalf of NBT, I would like to say what a pleasure it is for NBT, our staff and their families to be able to assist in bringing some extra joy to the orphans during this year’s holy month of Ramadhan,” said Hj Ahmad.
“This is obviously thanks to the strong continuous trust and support of the Brunei Community for Lexus, Toyota and NBT. On behalf of our company, I would, therefore, like to take this opportunity to wish everyone ‘Selamat Menunaikan Ibadah Puasa’. Stay safe and healthy.”
NBT staff and families also contributed to the donations as the company believes in giving back to the community, read a statement.
Last year’s donation included a ‘berbuka puasa’ or breaking fast event with the orphans and family members.
“This year, the practice has been put on hold to comply with the Ministry of Health’s social distancing and mass gathering directives,” added the statement.
