The upgrades include new engine-transmission combinations, newly designed headlights and rear lights, additional body finishes and cutting-edge connectivity technology for convenience and in-car infotainment.

On the outside, the circular headlights are designed and modified to make the front view of the new MINI 3 Door and the new MINI 5 Door models look more expressive.

The LED daytime driving lights and turn indicator lights are generated by rings which surround the entire contour of the headlights.

What’s even more attractive is the Union Jack-designed rear lights of the new models as a clear reference to the brand’s British origins. The light functions are recreated according to the British flag motif.

Also improved is the MINI logo which has been made clear and authentic; a reinterpretation of the existing logo with a two-dimensional flat design.

The logo appears on the bonnet, tailgate, steering wheel, central instrument display and remote control in all models.

In terms of performance, the new MINI cars are more efficient and lighter than the previous generation.

The three-cylinder petrol engine of the MINI now draws its power from a capacity of 1.5 litres, increasing maximum torque to 190 Nm.

The new MINI 3 Door and MINI 5 Door models also come with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission and double clutch.

The transmission is characterised by very fast gearshifts, enabling sporty acceleration manouevres without torque interrupted. It is operated using a newly designed electronic gear selector lever.

Finally, the engine covers are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic making the drive units lighter.

“We bring in these models because they are the people’s car. We have the Countryman and Clubman but 80 per cent of the business is all about MINI one and MINI Cooper,” said the Sivakumar Krishnan, the General Manager of QAF Auto.

“Definitely we don’t want Bruneians to miss out having these two improved models,” he added.
