BAG Networks recently launched an augmented reality (AR) mobile game to supplement the upcoming TechXpo.
The “Trail to TechXpo 2018” game uses GPS and AR technology whereby users use their smartphones to solve challenges and gather clues around Brunei-Muara district leading up to the technology expo at the International Convention Centre (ICC) next week.
The mobile game is similar to BAG Networks’ previous app “Epidemic: Race to Rescue” early this year.
Just like in the previous rescue mission game, players must identify eight checkpoints and solve various challenges and gather clues in order to go to the next round.
“Due to the popularity of the previous app that involved participants going to different landmarks in the capital, we thought of including participating local tech companies for the TechXpo to be the “checkpoints” (in the game),” said BAG Networks Head of Corporate Services Hjh Siti Rozana DP Hj Md Yunos during a TechXpo press conference recently.
“It’s a three-round game. First they have to go to the checkpoints, then solve puzzles at our booth on the first day of the expo and finally, a mystery round at the main stage at ICC,” she added.
During the second round, said Hjh Siti Rozana, some teams will be eliminated while the top ten teams will compete in the final challenge on August 21.
BAG Networks is one of the activity partners of the upcoming TechXpo which will take place for three days starting August 18.
The local ICT service provider aims to educate the public on the breakthrough technologies used in the app like AR, GPS and image recognition during the expo.
“We want to encourage more people to use these kinds of technologies. It is the new trend,” said Hjh Siti Rozana.
To play the game, the public must register online at www.techxpobn.com. The game instructions will be sent to the players via email.
