Brunei’s telecommunication firms – Datastream Digital, imagine and Progresif – will be rolling out their new offerings starting this Friday.
Their mobile and fixed offerings will also include number portability, a feature that allows users to change service providers while keeping their existing numbers.
Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) in its latest statement said it has been working with service providers including Unified National Networks (UNN) to bring the number portability to the market on a pilot basis.
To ensure a seamless transition and experience for consumers, the number portability pilot has been undergoing intense testing by UNN and the service providers.
AITI said the pilot will begin with limited capacity and full implementation is expected over the coming months.
Members of the public are also advised to do their due diligence before subscribing to or switching to a different service provider.
Things to look out for include the features of their offerings, terms, and conditions, billing practices and customer care services.
Potential customers are also advised to look well into each provider’s fair usage policies and traffic management practices before deciding on their products.
All service providers are also required to provide transparency on the above critical information so consumers can make a fully informed decision.
